Cyber expert Vishal Sharma said money transferred in the case of online shopping by taking information of a credit or debit card can be recovered provided the information is provided to the police's cyber cell in time.

With more and more people opting for digital transactions each day, cybercrimes in India are also proliferating at a rapid pace. Crooks armed with an internet connection and digital devices are finding new ways to dupe innocent bank customers in order to steal their hard-earned money.

With the rise in the rate of cybercrimes in Agra, the then IG (Agra range) A Satish Ganesh had activated the city police's cyber cell to its maximum capacity. Over the past 12 months, the cell has been successful in recovering a total of Rs 15 lakh reported stolen by as many as 100 victims of cyber fraud.

According to the Agra Police's cyber cell, the amount transferred from one account to the other remains in an e-wallet for some time and the amount can be recovered during that time. Cyber cell in-charge Vijay Kumar told India Today that if the amount has been withdrawn from an ATM, recovery of the amount is not possible.

Similarly, if the amount has been transferred to another account, it cannot be recovered. Such an amount can only be recovered if the perpetrator of the crime has been arrested.

Cyber expert Vishal Sharma said money transferred in the case of online shopping by taking information of a credit or debit card can be recovered provided the information is given in time.

Shailesh Kumar Singh, another cyber cell expert, added that sometimes cybercriminals withdraw money from the account by taking the ATM card information or making someone deposit money in a particular account.
