Hours after Twitter Inc permanently banned Donald Trump's account citing "risk of further incitement of violence" following the US Capitol violence on Wednesday, the US President vowed that he and his support base would not be silenced. Banned from Twitter, Donald Trump tweeted from the account of 'Team Trump' which was also suspended following his statement.

Donald Trump, in a statement hours after he was permanently banned from Twitter, said, "I predicted this would happen. We have been negotiating with various other sites, and will have a big announcement soon, while we also look at the possibilities of building out our own platform in the near future."

"We will not be SILENCED!" Donald Trump said. The US President also went on to accuse Twitter of silencing him.

Indicating some announcement in this regard is forthcoming, Donald Trump said, "Twitter is not about FREE SPEECH. They are all about promoting a Radical Left platform where some of the most vicious people in the world are allowed to speak freely. STAY TUNED!"

Donald Trump said, "Twitter has gone further and further in banning free speech, and tonight, Twitter employees have coordinated with the Democrats and the Radical Left in removing my account from their platform, to silence me...Twitter may be a private company, but without the government's gift of Section 230 they would not exist for long."

Moments after Donald Trump's statement, Twitter Inc banned suspended the Team Trump account.

The social platform had long been under pressure to take action against Donald Trump following Wednesday's deadly insurrection at the US Capitol.

On Wednesday, Twitter had temporarily blocked Donald Trump's account, which had more than 88 million followers, following the siege of Capitol Hill by pro-Trump protesters, and warned that additional violations by the president's accounts would result in a permanent suspension.

On Saturday, Twitter permanently suspended Donald Trump's account, citing "the risk of further incitement of violence" following the deadly insurrection at the US Capitol on Wednesday.

"After a close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence," Twitter said in a tweet.

However, Twitter blocked efforts by Donald Trump to sidestep the ban by deleting the tweets the US President fired off from the official presidential account @POTUS, accusing the company of conspiring with the "Radical Left."

The official account for the President of the United States, @POTUS, remains live.

"Using another account to try to evade a suspension is against our rules," Twitter was quoted as saying by AFP. It added: "We have taken steps to enforce this with regard to recent Tweets from the @POTUS account."

On Friday, Twitter also permanently banned two Trump loyalists - former national security adviser Michael Flynn and attorney Sidney Powell - as part of a broader purge of accounts promoting the QAnon conspiracy theory.

Social media companies have been under intensified pressure to crack down on hate speech since a violent mob egged on by Donald Trump stormed the US Capitol.
