The woman was admitted to the Habra State General Hospital by the locals. She was undergoing treatment for multiple burn injuries at the hospital.

According to available information, the woman was identified as Sabita Sarkar, who was married to Dilip Majumder for a couple of years. Sabita allegedly faced domestic violence after marriage and shifted to her father's house following multiple troubles in her in-laws’ family.

At the time of the acid attack, Sabita was on her way to work when her husband Dilip Majumder allegedly attacked her with acid in the Daulatpur area. She was riding her bicycle and fell down as acid hit her neck and left upper side. She received severe burn injuries in the acid attack.

Following the attack, Sabita took shelter in the house of one of her neighbours identified as Minti Gorai. The incident caused a stir in the locality. The locals informed her father, Narayan Sarkar and rushed her to the hospital.

Narayan Sarkar has lodged a complaint with the police station. The Ashok Nagar police have launched an investigation into the incident.

Minti Gorai said, "I was cooking when suddenly a woman came up to me and asked for help. I thought she might have had a stroke. My wife saw her and told her that she had acid in her mouth

"The woman is not one of us. She took refuge in my house after being attacked with acid. She was later admitted to the hospital. The incident took place around 9 am," he said.

On the other hand, Narayan Sarkar, the father of the victim, said his daughter's husband Dilip Majumder threw acid on her due to family problems. "My daughter works at a private company. When she was on her way to work this morning, she was attacked with acid. Later, her colleagues called me and informed me about the incident. The matter was reported to the local police station," he said.

Narayan Sarkar said, "My daughter has been tortured for a long time. I want the guilty to be brought to justice."
