Vijay's Master released on January 13 in theatres across the globe. The film has created havoc at the overseas box office in five days.
Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi's Master released in theatres on January 13 and it has been garnering great response from both audiences as well as critics. The film got a grand opening in Australia and is now on the verge of breaking box-office records overseas. The film has collected over Rs 3.85 crore in five days and it's highest for any Tamil film. On the very first day, Master collected A$ 283,517 and made a solid opening.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh, took to Twitter to reveal details about the film's box-office collection in Australia. He wrote, "MASTER' WOWS AUSTRALIA... #MasterFilm braves the pandemic, records superb numbers in its *extended* opening weekend in #Australia... Wed A$ 283,517 Thu A$ 96,271 Fri A$ 107,672 Sat A$ 123,080 Sun A$ 74,274 Total: A$ 684,814 [ 3.85 cr] @comScore #Master #MasterPongal (sic)."
Other Tamil films, which faired well at the box-office before in Australia were Vijay's Mersal and Rajinikanth's 2.0. Mersal collected over 1,33,000 and 2.0 opened at 2,30,430 on its first day.
Master has released in over 550 screens in Tamil Nadu and more than 880 screens in other parts of South India. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film is produced by XB Film Creators and Seven Screen Studios, Co-Produced by Lalith Kumar and Jagadish Palanisamy. The film also features Vijay Sethupathi, Malavika Mohanan, Andrea Jeremiah, Arjun Das and Shanthanu Bhagyaraj in the lead roles.
Vijay has started working on the pre-production of his 65th film. Produced by Sun Pictures, the film is likely to go on floors in February 2021, post Master release. Nelson Dilipkumar will be directing it.
