Richa Chadha’s sci-fi short film 55kms/sec to release on Disney+Hotstar on January 20

Richa Chadha and Mrinal Dutt-starrer 55kms/sec is a sci-fi short film which will release on Disney+Hotstar on Wednesday. The film is directed by Arati Kadav, who has earlier helmed critically acclaimed movie Cargo.

While fans are eagerly waiting for the release of Richa Chadha’s much-talked about film Madam Chief Minister, a short film featuring the actress is set to release on Disney+Hotstar on Wednesday. Directed by Arati Kadav, 55kms/sec is a science fiction short film which stars Richa Chadha and Mrinal Dutt in the lead roles. Previously, 55kms/sec released internationally on Amazon Prime Video US and UK.

WHAT DID ARATI KADAV SAY ABOUT THE FILM?

Arati Kadav’s film 55 km/sec has been shot entirely on an iPhone amid the novel coronavirus pandemic. In Arati’s story, the earth and the people living in it are in grave danger because an asteroid is about to hit the planet at the speed of 55 km/sec (hence the title of the film). The filmmaker hopes that people shower the film with a lot of love. “I am thankful to Disney + Hotstar and ShortFilmWindow for showering the film with love. The film is called 55 km/sec which is the speed at which the asteroid is making its way to earth. As we’ve all acclimated to the new normal, the short film was a fun exercise. My team and I saw it as work to cheer ourselves up. Our virtual set was bubbling with new energy. This was a memorable experience for us and I hope the audience showers us with as much love,” Arati Kadav said in a statement.

WHAT ARATI SHARED WHEN THE FILM RELEASED IN UK AND US

55 km/sec released on Amazon Prime Video US and UK in December 2020. Arati Kadav shared a long note on Instagram talking about the film and the star cast. “Shooting remotely had it’s own challenges but the real stars of the film are truly it’s stars - the actors. I have to say a big part of workload did fall on our incredibly sporting actors, who were the only ones on the field, doubling up with their roomies as costume, production designer, makeup and camera person. Kudos to Mrinal Dutt esp. for driving his shoot so smoothly for us. Cast: Mrinal Dutt, Richa Chadda. Manya Grover, Sandeep Jain, Sankalp Joshi, Roshmin, Kajol, Tanvir Singh Virdi, most of the crew and friends (sic),” read a part of her post.

Other than 55 km/sec, Richa Chadha also has Madam Chief Minister in the pipeline, which releases on January 22. Madam Chief Minister is a political drama also starring Manav Kaul and Saurabh Shukla.
