Meet TMC’s powerful women who continue to stand with Mamata Banerjee as the ruling party takes on the BJP in Bengal.

Bengal is all set to see a multi-cornered contest in the upcoming Assembly election in April with the TMC and the BJP primarily vying for power.

As the BJP emerges as the principal challenger to the TMC, the election is being seen as a massive challenge to Mamata Banerjee.

Ahead of the poll, the TMC chief is not in a comfortable position due to the exodus of several veterans from the party since the 2019 Lok Sabha election, which is likely to impact the overall vote-share for Mamata Banerjee's party.

At a time when old and faithful party members leave the party, there has emerged a powerful team who lend crucial support and stand with Mamata Banerjee in the party’s fight for Bengal.

Here are the 10 women who are fighting the BJP with Mamata Banerjee in Bengal:

1. Nusrat Jahan

2. Mimi Chakraborty

3. Mahua Moitra

4. Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar

5. Chandrima Bhattacharya

6. Shashi Panja

7. Satabdi Roy

8. Sujata Mondal

9. Dola Sen

10. Nayna Bandyopadhyay

Election to the 294-member state Assembly is expected in April-May this year.

Following the BJP's robust show in the 2019 Lok Sabha election, at least 17 TMC MLAs and two Trinamool MPs have joined the BJP. Four Left Front MLAs - three from the CPI-M - and three from the Congress also have joined the BJP.
