There are two long weekends in March 2021. This means you can easily plan a getaway near your city where you can relax, enjoy the views, and just have fun. Here is a list of eight places that you can plan a vacation to this March.

March is almost here. This year has been quite complicated. We don't have to tell you why. Covid-19 is still here, and the numbers are spiking once again. The only thing we can do to stay safe is following all the health guidelines, like wearing face masks and sanitising our hands. Ad infinitum.

However, if you are a traveller, the silver lining amid these daily grim reminders is that travel restrictions around the country have been relaxed. Additionally, March has two long weekends: one during Maha Shivratri (March 11, March 12, March 13, March 14); and the other, Holi (March 27, March 28, March 29). This is a reason to rejoice. Right?

Therefore, if going on a chill vacation is on your mind, we have some suggestions for you.

BIR BILLING

If adventure is on your mind, Bir Billing should be on your list. Come March, and this place becomes a hotspot for adventure enthusiasts as the first paragliding season of the year kicks off. To add to this adrenaline rush, you have exquisite views of the mountains and pleasant temperatures too.

RISHIKESH

If you are in love with nature, the roar of the rivers and the calm of a pleasant morning by the banks of the Ganga, then Rishikesh is the place for you to unwind. Combine a visit to the Rajaji National Park, and you will have a weekend sorted. In case you need more details, read our travelogue here.

KAMSHET

The breathtaking landscapes and charming villages surrounding Kamshet will give you a much-needed breather from work. From trekking to rock climbing or even soaring, you can do just about anything here.

MALSHEJ GHAT

A stunning mountain pass in the Western Ghats in Maharashtra, Malshej Ghat is the ideal weekend getaway where you will be able to slow down and relax while enjoying the stunning waterfalls, lush greenery and migratory birds.

KURSEONG

A popular escape to the hills in West Bengal, Kurseong is home to sprawling wild orchids, Buddhist gompas, temples and waterfalls. This place is also known as the Land of Orchids, and for the right reasons.

KALIMPONG

Want to get away and take a respite from the city life? Then plan a visit to Kalimpong, with the Kanchenjunga forming a formidable backdrop. Secluded and far from the madness, there are some great places here like Durpin Monastery, Lepcha Museum and Deolo Hills for you to explore. There's also Lava, Lolegaon and Rishap around. Don't miss the root bridge in Lolegaon.

PUDUCHERRY

Imagine the clear blue sea with a view of old French architecture and mouth-watering seafood. That is what Puducherry, earlier Pondicherry and fondly known as Pondy, is for you. This French Riviera is a must-visit destination and will be a trip to remember.

MUNNAR

Summer in Munnar is the perfect time to enjoy sightseeing and visiting tea estates and the Eravikulam National Park. Other than that, Munnar is also a famous trekking destination and home to the Lakkam Waterfalls and the Anamudi Peak.

Now while travelling might be high on your list this year after the nightmare that was 2020, with an imminent second wave, do take adequate precautions before you head out. Keep an eye on government Covid guidelines too; especially if you're travelling inter-state.
