Royal Challengers Bangalore's Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson will miss the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 and return home due to personal reasons, adding to the list of Australians to leave the tournament mid-way.

Both the players did not feature in RCB's heavy defeat against Chennai Super Kings in Match 19 of IPL 2021 on Sunday.

Richardson played just the one match for his franchise this season and picked up 1 wicket against Rajasthan Royals on April 22. Zampa did not feature in RCB's playing XI in any of the 5 games they have played till now.

"Adam Zampa & Kane Richardson are returning to Australia for personal reasons and will be unavailable for the remainder of #IPL2021. Royal Challengers Bangalore management respects their decision and offers them complete support," RCB said in a statement.

Rajasthan Royals' Andrew Tye was the first Aussie to leave IPL 2021 due to personal reasons while they also bid adieu to English batsman Liam Livingstone, who cited bubble-fatigue as the reason behind his decision to return home. RR are already missing the services of England all-rounder Ben Stokes and pacer Jofra Archer due to injuries.

The Australian government is mulling banning all flights from India to their country due to the rapid rise in coronavirus cases in India. Australia's National Security Committee of Cabinet will meet on Tuesday where a further reduction in flights from India will be considered.

ASHWIN TAKES A BREAK FROM IPL 2021

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals also lost off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who has decided to take a break with immediate effect as he wants to support his "family and extended family" who are putting a fight against Covid-19.

Ashwin, who featured in DC's Super Over win over Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday, took to social media to announce his decision and added that he would return to play for the franchise "if things go in the right direction".

"I would be taking a break from this years IPL from tomorrow. My family and extended family are putting up a fight against #COVID19 and I want to support them during these tough times. I expect to return to play if things go in the right direction. Thank you @DelhiCapitals," Ashwin said in a social media post.

IPL 2021 has been held in strict bio-bubble environments across major cities in India, which has been battling a second wave of Covid-19.

The coronavirus caseload and death toll hit new records for a fifth straight day as India faced a deluge of over 3.52 lakh Covid-19 cases and 2,812 deaths in a single day. A total of 2,812 Covid-19 patients died due to the infection, according to health ministry data, taking total coronavirus fatalities to 1,95,123.
