Hyderabad: A labourer was murdered allegedly by a person known to him following a tiff over a mobile phone at Jagadgirigutta on Monday.

The victim, B Bheema (45), had gone to a liquor shop at Jagadgirigutta on Monday night along with a person reportedly known to him. An argument ensued between the two over a mobile phone near the liquor shop.

“During the argument, the assailant, who is yet to be identified, took a boulder and hit Bheema on his head and fled the spot,” said Jagadgirigutta Inspector P Saidulu.

Eyewitnesses told the police that Bheema and the attacker were quarrelling over the ownership of a mobile phone. A few local people had intervened but they were not pacified, leading to the murder, police said.

A case was registered and investigation is on. One person was reportedly taken into custody.
