An ATM hacker was arrested by a team of the Crime Branch in Kanpur. The hacker was helped by a policeman of the department, who is absconding and efforts are underway to nab him.

An ATM hacker was arrested by a team of the Crime Branch in Kanpur on Tuesday.

The accused was identified as Amit Chauhan. Over the years, he had defrauded several banks of lakhs of rupees.

During the investigation, it was revealed that Amit had been hacking ATMs for the last 3 years. During this period, he carried out crimes in at least 10 to 12 cities.

The accused used to earn around Rs 1.5 lakh by hacking an ATM at a time. A large amount of ATM cards were also recovered from his possession.

Investigations further revealed that the hacker was being helped by a policeman from the department. The cop was absconding and a search is underway to nab him.
