The 2022 South Australian Premier’s Food and Beverage Industry Awards Program was launched at Government House last night and entries are now open.

“The State Government is proud to partner with Food South Australia to present the 2022 South Australian Premier’s Food and Beverage Industry Awards. These awards are recognised as a benchmark for excellence and best practice in the food and beverage industry” said, South Australian Premier, Hon. Peter Malinauskas.

Food South Australia CEO Catherine Sayer says there are valuable new benefits for entrants this year as the awards program continues to seek out opportunities to drive industry-wide growth.

“Along with recognising and celebrating the achievements of our industry, this program is designed to provide entrants, finalists and winners with expert input and connections to develop their business,” Ms Sayer said.

“With the support of Foodland Supermarkets, the highly successful Retail Ready Program returns, accessible by all award entrants, enabling businesses to develop and strengthen their relationship with Foodland, including activations to increase sales and raise their profile with Foodland customers,” she said.

Ms Sayer said the disruption of the last two years has driven innovation and this year’s finalists and winners are likely to be stand-out examples of stepping up to the challenges of COVID-19 and passion for uniting the industry.

“This year’s theme for the awards revolves around a Penrose triangle. The triangle, a strong solid shape resting on a sound base, represents the passionate and innovative approach the industry exudes and is brought together as one united force.”

The 2022 awards have seen the introduction of a new Mental Health and Wellbeing Award designed to encourage businesses to reflect on the importance of this issue.

“Mental health and wellbeing is a growing issue for business and COVID-19 has really highlighted this.”

“These awards are supported by the Government of South Australia through a unique and valued Industry-Government Partnership. We are proud to continue to work with the State Government to support growth for an industry that continues to be a key contributor to the South Australian economy,” said Ms Sayer.

This is another example of this long-established and prestigious awards program responding to changing conditions and ensuring the program continues to focus on creating practical and actionable opportunities for industry-wide growth,” Ms Sayer said.

Applications for the 2022 South Australian Premier’s Food and Beverage Industry Awards will close at 5.00pm on Monday 4 July.
