Mumbai: The accused man is a member of Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and has been identified as Vinod Argile.

A video of a man physically abusing an elderly woman in Mumbai's Kamathipura area allegedly over the installation of a bamboo stick (for an advertisement) in front of her shop without her consent is being widely shared on social media. The Mumbai Police said a non-cognisable offence has been registered in the case, adding three arrests have been made.

The accused man is a member of Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and has been identified as Vinod Argile.

Additional commissioner of police (Central Region) said three persons, including Argile, were arrested on Thursday.

In the video shared by news agency ANI, the man is seen pushing, shoving and slapping the woman as she falls on the ground while trying to put up a resistance against the group of men.

Later, an MNS leader said the viral video has been edited adding, Argile has temper issues. The woman in the clip had clicked a banner of the MNS and abused party workers, said MNS leader Keshav Mulay.

“The Viral video depicting Vinod Argyle is not complete. We're not supporting it. The MNS respects women but that woman kicked our party's banner and abused our party workers, which is edited out. Vinod Argile also has temper issues. We have faith in judicial system,” Mulay was quoted as saying by ANI.
