BIJNOR: The district administration in Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor district has issued notice to 17 people belonging to two clashing groups to deposit Rs 1 lakh each for breaching the surety bond conditions that they had signed earlier pledging not to fight again.

Police on Sunday evening also announced that their properties would be seized if they failed to pay up within 15 days. In March this year, the two groups clashed following a quarrel over use of pond water in Pittan Aundha village under Heempur Deepa police station in Bijnor district. They were challaned under sections 151/107/116 CrPC, and were let off after they furnished bail bond of Rs 1 lakh each.

The two groups again clashed on April 24. Police rushed to the village and took action against the offenders under section 120b of CrPC. Police then sent its report to the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Ritu Chaudhary, following which she issued an order under section 122b of CrPC to recover bond money from each of the 17 accused. According to SDM Ritu Chaudhary, "Police pasted notices on the houses of the accused. Personal bonds are not meant to be ridiculed. If anyone violates the law, he/she will not be spared."
City superintendent of police Praveen Kumar Ranjan confirmed the matter.

He said, "The two groups clashed with each other in March this year over pond water, following which they were booked under relevant sections of the CrPC."
"Chandpur SDM had granted bail to the accused after furnishing personal bond and sureties. The accused again clashed on April 24. The SDM has now ordered to recover the personal bond amount of Rs 1 lakh from each of them," the SP added.
