A 26-year-old man in Hyderabad bit off a woman’s finger during a scuffle over a an issue. The man, a former tenant himself, has been arrested and sent to jail following a complaint by the woman’s daughter.

In a deeply disturbing incident in Hyderabad, a 26-year-old man allegedly bit off a woman’s finger during a heated altercation over a monetary dispute, police said on Monday. The violent episode unfolded on May 17 at a residence in Madhura Nagar, leaving the 45-year-old woman injured and traumatised.

The accused, an employee at a private firm, had been a tenant along with his wife at the victim’s house. Though the couple had vacated the premises in April, tensions reportedly remained unresolved over a pending chit fund payment.

According to the police, the woman and her daughter, who own the house, were supposed to return Rs 30,000 to the former tenants as part of a chit fund transaction. However, they informed the couple that Rs 5,000 would be deducted from the sum due to unpaid rent by an acquaintance who had earlier stayed in the same house. This deduction sparked a fierce argument, culminating in a physical scuffle when the couple arrived at the house to discuss the matter. During the altercation, the man allegedly bit the woman’s finger so severely that a portion of it was severed and fell to the ground.
“The woman was rushed to hospital for treatment, but doctors later informed her that the severed part of the finger could not be reattached,” said a police official from Madhura Nagar Police Station.

Following the attack, the woman’s daughter filed a formal complaint. A case was registered against both the man and his wife, although only the man has been arrested so far. He has since been sent to jail.
