DHAKA, Oct 14, 2025 (BSS) – A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on research and technological cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Bangladesh Shrimp and Fish Foundation (BSFF).

The agreement was signed on Monday at the conference room of the Ministry of Science and Technology at the Bangladesh Secretariat here, a press release said.

On behalf of the Ministry, Professor Dr Md Sagir Ahmed, Director General of the National Institute of Biotechnology (NIB), signed the MoU, while Syed Mahmudul Huq, Chairman of BSFF, signed on behalf of the foundation.

Science and Technology Secretary Md Anwar Hossain attended the ceremony as the chief guest.

Senior officials from the ministry, as well as representatives from NIB and BSFF, were also present.

Under the MoU, the two sides aim to enhance and apply technologies related to shrimp aquaculture, hybrid fish production, and the cultivation of export-oriented fish species in Bangladesh.

The collaboration will utilize NIB’s technological resources, research infrastructure, and expert knowledge to modernize the fisheries sector and ensure production standards that meet international benchmarks.
