A 21-year-old pharmacy student, Yamini Priya, was murdered in broad daylight near the Srirampura railway track in Bengaluru while returning home after telling her family she was going for an exam. A youth attacked her from behind, slitting her throat before fleeing the scene.
Bengaluru: A 21-year-old college student was brutally murdered in broad daylight near the Srirampura railway track on Thursday morning. According to police sources, the victim had left her home around 7 am, telling her family she was heading for an exam. She was reportedly on her way back home when the brutal attack occurred.
Victim Identified as Pharmacy Student
The deceased has been identified as Yamini Priya, a B.Pharm student studying at a private college in the Hosakerehalli area of the city.
As she walked near the Mantri Mall area, a youth allegedly approached her from behind, slit her throat, and fled the spot before anyone could intervene. Eyewitnesses, shocked by the sudden attack, immediately alerted the police.
Officers from the Srirampura Police Station quickly reached the scene, cordoned off the area, and began collecting forensic evidence. The body was sent for post-mortem examination, and efforts are underway to trace the assailant.
A senior police officer confirmed that a manhunt has been launched and that multiple teams are working to identify and nab the suspect. “We are verifying CCTV footage from nearby areas and speaking to locals for clues,” the official added.
Police said further details will be shared once the accused is arrested and preliminary investigations are complete.
In another news from Bengaluru, police have arrested Dr Mahendra Reddy G S, a surgeon, for allegedly murdering his wife, Dr Kruthika M Reddy, a 29-year-old dermatologist, in April this year. The arrest followed a complaint filed by her father, leading to an FIR on October 14.
Investigations revealed that Mahendra allegedly used his hospital access to obtain Propofol, a powerful anaesthetic, and administered it to his wife, causing respiratory failure. He then reportedly tried to pass off her death as natural and deterred her family from seeking a post-mortem. Police nabbed him near Manipal within three hours.
