In Rajasthan Crime Files Part-1, you read about a three-year-old case from Churu. A married woman, Shaheen, was found dead in her house. She had been strangled with a scarf. Her family accused her husband, Adil, of killing her for dowry.

During the investigation, police found that although there had been disputes between Adil and Shaheen, the couple had recently reconciled. Adil also claimed he was in Jhunjhunu on the night of the incident. However, a crucial clue later exposed the truth behind the murder.

It was a love marriage The story that emerged before the police so far was that Adil and Shaheen had a love marriage. Shaheen's family members were not happy with this marriage. Perhaps that's why they accused Adil of murder for dowry.

Initially treated as a murder case

Adil repeatedly claimed he was innocent and said he had been in Jhunjhunu that night. Even after questioning neighbours, police failed to find any immediate clues, and the Shaheen murder case was turning into a puzzle for investigators.

As police began verifying Adil’s claim, they came across a CCTV footage. The video showed Adil at around 10 PM on the night of the incident at a petrol pump in Churu itself. He was seen wearing a yellow T-shirt and black trousers.

Fabricated story to mislead police

Adil was seen there with his friends, even taking selfies with them. After the CCTV footage surfaced, it became clear that he had lied. Adil had fabricated the story about visiting his uncle in Jhunjhunu to save himself.

After this revelation, police interrogated him more strictly. Acting on Adil’s information, officers recovered his mobile phone, which had been hidden under an iron box.

Police found five photographs of Shaheen’s body on the phone. The pictures had been taken between 2:18 AM and 2:29 AM on the night of the incident, becoming crucial evidence against him.

Affair led to the murder

The investigation revealed that a few years after the marriage, Adil had developed an illicit relationship with another woman. This became the main reason for the conflict between him and Shaheen.

Shaheen strongly opposed the relationship, and this dispute eventually led to her murder. Based on the evidence gathered during the investigation, the court found Adil guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
