ADB to fund ₹4,500 crore; works on 21-km priority stretch to be taken up in EPC mode

Hyderabad: The state government on Thursday has accorded administrative sanction for ₹7,345.12 crore (excluding land acquisition cost) for the Musi Riverfront Development Project covering priority stretches under Zone-1A and Zone-1B in Hyderabad. The project, aimed at rejuvenating the Musi River ecosystem through integrated riverfront development, urban infrastructure, and environmental improvement, will span about 21 km. The two stretches include Himayatsagar to Bapughat (9.2 km) and Osmansagar to Bapughat (11.8 km).

According to the government order, the project will be funded through a ₹4,500 crore loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and ₹2,845.12 crore from the state government. The initiative is part of a larger plan to transform nearly 200 sq km of urban landscape in Hyderabad through sustainable and resilient development. The works will be executed in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) mode, with a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) engaged for implementation and monitoring as per ADB guidelines. The Musi Riverfront Development Corporation Limited (MRDCL) has been directed to take further necessary action for execution of the project.
